RIP Fatass

I still can't believe it. I kept hoping one day this summer I'd get a call to come get the horse. That he needed a home. We'd take him. Whether he was ready for trail riding or broke down, we'd take him. I looked at his results yesterday afternoon and saw he dropped his rider and was vanned off at Arlington. It was a 3 horse incident, 3 horses Did Not Finish. Of course in the charts they leave out any details. I can't get my fucking Equibase account or my TVG account to cooperate so I can actually watch the replay.... at the time I didn't know how bad it was and just wanted to see what had happened. Now I'm not sure I want to watch it.... Another of Fatass' followers texted me last night telling me she confirmed that Fatass (So So Worth It) had been euthanized. I am just sick over it and heart broken all over again. I know it's part of the game, but it's part I hate and part I will never ever get used to. He was an awesome horse. We loved him very much, and I still did this last 5 months since he was claimed. Too much personality for his own good. And he loved to have his ears scratched. If I didn't already miss him before.... So rest in peace on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, Fatass and know you were always loved by us and will be missed always.

  2. It's hard when a horse has been claimed off you. You have no say over what happens after that. You want to know what happened and why the decision was made, but no one will tell you and it stopped being your business the moment the track official tells you he's been claimed. You can't be there to talk to the vet and say, ya know what I'll take him home and he can live out his life in a paddock. You don't even know WHAT the injury was, if he could even BE a pasture pet or not. And it really sucks. But that's just how racing goes. Most of the time you love racing. But sometimes you hate it.

  4. Wow, he sure was a looker. What a beautiful beautiful boy. I am so sorry he had to go the way he did. Hardest part about racing and hardest part about loving horses.
