Twister was pretty good about me doing his feet. I only had to get after him once. It was cool in the shedrow and not buggy. So being an ass wasn't justified. I have a LOT of work to do on those feet still but this is a start and at least they will fit in his boots now. I bought a new rasp at the same time I bought the sparkle whip so it was also fun and easy to do his feet yet at the same time so much freaking hard work. I haven't done that much work since I was 4 or 5 months pregnant. I was exhausted the rest of the day.
On Saturday I rode. Plan was to work on Twister being soft and moving off my leg and not dragging me around. I also wanted to go through the trot poles a few times and work on his topline as I worked on my core. We went through the poles SO NICE the third time through that I decided I'd reward Twister with a canter. As he broke into the canter I realized I have something else that seriously has to be worked on before we can move out of walk-trot mode..... my pelvic floor. I'll be doing Kegals all day everyday for the rest of the year probably. Any mom will relate.
from now on I'll only be wearing dark colors for pics..... |
Even after the very brief canter I decided to be brave and do a few rounds without stirrups. We did a western jog, not a real working trot. So it was sort of cheating. But still hard work.
Once Mom leaves I'm hoping to get in at least one ride a week. For both my sanity and Twister's. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a momma. And my priorities have changed quite a bit. But a momma still needs "me-time". Not to mention it's good exercise.
It's so important to have me-time! Glad you had a good ride :) You guys look great!
ReplyDeleteStirrup less western jog is absolutely still stirrup less lol. Totally counts!!
