He said while the tendon is healed, the tear was the length of his leg and there is so much scar tissue that by the time he's working 1/2 mile he will just tear again and be worse off.
I'm bummed we won't see him race again. Kid could run.
drugged -_- |
So now I have to start him back slowly. Hand walking hills. Long slow trots on the lunge line. Slow walks and trots under saddle up and down the hills. Slowly bring him back into work and get him fit again. And he now shares Twister's separation anxiety buddy sourness. So it's going to be SOOOOOOOOOO much fun.
"vet better not be here for me!" |
If you have any tips on what I could do with him, especially in hand, leave a comment! I'm going to throw a tarp down and ground poles and just give his brain something to do because he be BORED AF.
aw what a shame he has to retire, but it definitely sounds like the right call!!
ReplyDeleteThat sucks! :( I hope his return transition to a new job goes well and that tendon stays put.
ReplyDeleteWhat about in hand trail obstacles?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I could find something like that around here. He's hard to spook but I still like to try so I know I won't die hahaha
